Book Review: The NeverNight Chronicles by Jay Kristoff

 

    I am so happy I read this series. When Never Night 1st came out, I was hesistant to read this book. I read the sample chapter and I simply wasn't interested. However, people kept raving and raving about this book all over the internet. I finally gave into the hype and decided to read this series. And I am so happy that I did!!! This series is one of the best fantasy books I've read in YEARS. Nevernight rocketed to the top of my favorites list and I highly, HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone and anyone. This series is AMAZING. 

    The NeverNight Chronicles follows the story of Mia Corvere on her quest for vengence in a world with 3 suns. This is a very brief, spolier-free summary of the book but this series has everything you could have ever wanted from a good fantasy series. There are great characters, fantastic action scenes, good humor, mystery, murder, vengence, plot twists and so much more. There is also a talking shadow cat named Mister Kindly, who probably my favorite character after Mia (but don't tell him I said that). 

    Mia is a amazing protagnist in my opinion. I love everything about her. Her sarcasm, her ambition, her ruthlessness, her complexity, and her drive for justice. I have a serious book crush on this girl. 

    My only problem with the book is the world. Never Night takes place is a very complicated world that has comes with a . There are footnotes throughout the book that is suppose to give more context to the world but I honesly didn't like them as I felt like they were a distraction from the plot. However, despite this very minor inconvenience, I still think Jay Kristoff did a amzing job with these books. These books are probably his best work yet, in my opinion. He does a brillant job with growing his characters as well as building a spenseful and action filled plot. 

    Overall, I highly recommend this series to everyone and their mothers. Someone once liken this book series to that of a video game and I totally agree (I don't even like video games but I would totally play this series).  This book series is amazing. While it might be hard to 1st get into this series like me, once you get into this series you will love it. I 100% give this series 5 out of 5 stars.
