Book Review: One Hot Italian Summer by Karina Halle

Book Review: One Hot Italian Summer by Karina Halle

I am a big fan of Karina Halle. Her books are like Rom Com movies but better. Way better. They're funny, sweet, dramatic, and fun. However, some of her books I love (i.e The Swedish Prince & The Younger Man) and other books of her I like. This book is one of them. I really like it and I really enjoyed reading this book but I wasn't exactly wowed.

One Hot Italian Summer follows the story of Grace Harper, a writer struggling with writer's block and grief. With a deadline coming up, her super agent,  Jana Lee, sends her to her villa in Italy to get  some inspiration. However, the house actually belongs to Jana's exhusband, Claudio and their son Vanni. Thanks to their annual father-son trip being cancelled, Claudio and Vanni are here to stay. With Grace. With a growing attraction between Grace and Claudio, drama & hot rommance ensues.

For the most part, I really like this book. It's a fun rom com. There were moments that made me laugh and others had me blushing. It's a really strong romance book.  The characters are great. I really like Grace as a protagnist. Her grief over her best friend's death felt very real. I also related to her inability to write and her writer's block. I am currently suppose to write a essay for my english class but i'm procrastinating by writing this book review. So I definitely understand where she's coming from. I also surprising like Jana. Her story as a mother and a high power career women was really interesting to read about. It help give her character more complexity that I felt she really needed to not seem like a villan.

My only issue with this book is actually the romance. I felt like Grace fell very hard and very fast. It felt a little like love-at-first sight. By the end of the book, they were discussing marriage after only knowing each other for a few months and were engaged by the epilogue. Other people might find this satisfying but I'm a bit more realistic when it comes to romances and would have preferred for them to wait a year. But that's just me.

Over all, I like One Hot Italian Summer. It had its moments and I enjoyed reading this book. It's a good book but it's just not my favorite by Kariana Halle. If you are looking for a fun, sexy summer read, then check out this book. Overall, I give this book a solid 3 out of 5 stars.
