Book Review: The Sinful King by Claire Contreras

The Sinful King by Claire Contreras

This book took me by surprise. I happened across this book by surprise when I was updating my goodreads. It showed up in the Readers Also Enjoyed Bar and I was in a very romance/rom-com mood so I decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did because this book was actually really good.

I really like reading royalty-commoner romance books. If they are done right, they can be really fun & enjoyable to read and this book was. The Sinful King follows the story of Adeline, a rising event planner and Pince Elias, the heir to the French crown. When the two first meet, there is an instant attraction and connection but their one night stand was suppose to be exactly that. A one-night stand. However, five years later, the two meet again and the sparks are still there. Adeline is still a commoner. Elias is still the Crown Prince. He is expected to take over his father's crown and marry another royal. But all he really wants is Adeline.

I like this book. I really do. This book was really well done and I feel like the series has some serious potential. (Prince Aramis is suppose to get his own book and I will definately be reading that book). The Characters were really well done. I like Adeline as a protagnist. She was funny, playful, and sarcastic but she also had moments of vunlerablity that really helped me connect to her. I also like Elias as well. I liked how he wasn't your typical playboy prince. He was very serious about his duties as a prince and he genuinely wants to make a difference in his country. I really respected him for that.

I also really enjoyed the plot of this book. Contreras did a great job balancing the humor and playfulness of this book with more dramatic parts. Also, I really felt the tension in this book. Contreras also did a great job of buliding and growing the relationship between the two. It wasn't a love-at-first-sight book like Twilight. (Thank Goodness). The writing, overall, isn't the greatest but Contreras had her moments and I really can only see this series improving in the future.

Overall, I really like this book. It was a really fun book to read and I enjoyed reading it. I also would highly recommend it if you are look for a dramatic love story between a royal and a commoner. I give this book a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
