Book Review: The Lost Book of the White by Cassandra Clare
I love Cassandra Clare. I love her and her books. I love the Shadowhunters world and everything about it. And this book is no exception. The Lost Book of the White is the 2nd book in the Eldest Curses Series, aka the Lost Adventures of the Great Magnus Bane. Just when life is begginning to look good for Magnus and Alec, two dangerous warlocks steal the Lost Book of the White. Now Magnus, Alec, and the whole gang must travel to Shanghai to catch the thiefs. Also, someone stabbed Magnus with a strange, glowing thorn and they need to find a cure for that. In other words, another Shadowhunter adventure filled with magic and mayhem. And I loved it!
Warning: This Review Does Contain spoilers for Shadowhunters Chronicles.
Pros: The characters!!! I love seeing more of Magnus and Alec. I love their relationship and their little family. Oh my goodness, I love baby Max!!! I'm not the biggest fan of kids but that kid is really something else and I love . I'm also so glad to see more of the gang from the Mortal Instruments Series. It feels like forever since we seen them go on a mission together. They are still as funny and sarcastic as ever. I also really loved Simon in this book. He's currently dealing the loss of his friend and finally facing the grivences of the past. Also, I love our new villan! He is very interesting and I am excited to see what he plans to do next.
It was also really fascinating to meet the Ke Family and see the Shanghai Insitute! I love how we are seeing more and more of the Shadowhunter world!!!
Cons: My only problems with this book is Ragnor's disappearence and the villan, Shinyun. Personally, I did not buy the reasoning behind Ragnor's disappearence. It feels so forced and frankly, not all that believeable. Also, how could Magnus not tell Catarina about Ragnor being alive? I also did like Shinyun. Frankly, she is my least favorite villan in the Shadowhunters world. I just don't get her and her motivations.
Overall, the Lost Book of the White is a really great book and if you are a Shadowhunter Fan, you won't be disappointed with this book. This book is amazing adventure filled with more Shadowhunter fun. The epilogue was also really fun to read and I am really, really excited to see where the stories leads to next. I give The Lost Book of White a solid 4.5 stars out of five and I can't wait to read the next book!
