Book Review: The One that Got Away by Karina Hall
Wow!!! The One that Got Away is one of Karina Halle's best books yet. I wasn't expecting alot but Karina Halle did not hold back in this book. The One that Got Away is a great romance books about lovers torn apart by circumstance. And it was much better than anticipated!!!
Pros: First of all, I really like the characters. Both protagnist are great characters and I really like Luciano and Ruby together as a couple. They both come from broken homes and they still feel the sting of being regected by their families. I also really like the dynamic between these two characters. They seem to be really in love. I didn't really like Marco at first. However, by the end, I had grown to respect him. At least a little bit. Also, I like the cameos of the characters from Hale's other book, The Younger Man. It was nice to hear an update on the couple.
The plot, overall, was pretty good. It was well-paced and pretty gripping to read. The book has some serious time gaps between the characters and Halle still did a great job of still keeping momentum in the plot.
Cons: My only con with the entire book is Luciano's step-father. He is extremely abusive towards Luciano and it is hinted towards his mother as well. I wish this properly address in the book, instead of being skimmed over. However, I was gladed that they finally cut this man out of their lives for forever by the end.
Overall, I really like this book. It's a really solid romance book and I found the story of Ruby & Luciano to be really fun to read. If you are looking for a romance book to read, I highly recommend this book. I giver Karina Hale's The One that Got Away a solid 4 out of 5 stars for my final rating.
