Book Review: Our Way by T.L Swan
So... this book was an interesting read. Also kind of confusing and irritating to read as well. I liked T.L Swan's writing and the pacing of this novel. However, Eliza and Nathan's love story is not handled very well. To say the least.
Our Way follows the love story Eliza and Nathan. These two have been best friends for years and are basically each other's soulmates. However, Nathan has only ever liked guys. So the two are just friends. Until... Nathan started developing feelings for Eliza. Yup, it's that kind of love story.
My main gripe with this book has to do with Nathan's sexuality. Personally, I understand Nathan (he's not the most amazing protagnist in the world and he does a lot of questionable things) but I understand his confusion and his anger. He's lost and he's potentially about to lose his best friend if he acts on hs feelings. But OH MY GOD, I hated how every other character acted towards him. They were like, "I thought you were gay? Or are you bisexual now?"and then they're like "Do you only love her because you want to have kids?" Are you kidding me? Eliza is gulity of doing this too. I get Eliza is angry and confuse too but she really should have talked to him about this right away. Don't go complaining to your firends and leaving them to confront him about this. That part of the book was really messed up.
Overall, this book was not that good. I just wished T.L Swan handled Nathan's sexuality better. It's perfectly normal and okay for Nathan to be confused. However, some of the things that some of the characters were suggesting was truly awful. Some scene's were even uncomfortable to read. Overall, I give this book 1.8 stars out of 5. Didn't really like it. Don't recommend.
